A friend of mine put a Cummins in his ‘85 Suburban. Mine has the original 6.2 diesel!

Awesome, I’ve owned like 6-7 6.2 diesel. Great motor I don’t care what everyone on the internet says, they started up every time for me. Alittle slow yes but never had issues.

756k on mine, never out of chassis, heads never off. Mains and rods spun in once! It’s had a few transmissions, original 1/2 ton rear end rebuilt once. The body is just getting worn out!

Yes, the 20 could have a 10.5 FF or a 9.5 SF depending on GVWR. Some of the lighter 20’s even had the 700R4, most had the TH400 or SM465. All the trucks with the big rear end got the heavy transmissions though.
I’m really liking the 4.10’s with the overdrive! I can still cruise at 70+!Josh Peterson

I came across a C20 with 3.73 14 , had a HD TH350 with vented pan. 4.10 are great if you can get the overdrive. NV4500 is a great swap

A local guy did the rebuild on this 700R4 and it’s tuned perfectly to the 6.2 diesel. Shifts are firm and right on time, no hunting. Local diesel shop did the injection pump and it’s dialed too! No smoke, all power! The 4.10’s were the missing link. I love driving this thing! It will run circles around my other ‘84 ‘Burb with the gas 350 and 3.73’s.

The 700 is a good transmission when built to hold it. Get some taller tires now
