BAD day at Jupiter Inlet ,,,
the question of the day is, "what would you have done differently?" my thoughts as a professional mariner in my past is to observe the situation as such, on an ebb tide (outgoing) with following seas from the atlantic, the guy was using too much power to somewhat surf the hull in rather than simply allow the hull at a slower speed be lifted from behind as the swell passes underneath. lake, river, intercostal boaters do not encounter such challenges. this can be life ending stuff for weekend warriors. observe,

That boat had to have water in it already to ride that nose down and low in the water.

I'm not a surfer, have surfed some sinced highschool, mostly in and right after high school, a problem i disliked was refered to as "perling" , where your path off the wave did not allow the nose to move parallel to the wave and it gets shoved below the surface. makes sence to me in this instance. fun out

That's an old video and was captains fault.
Stuffed the bow into wake of boat he was following.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Certainly not the hull for being out in big water like that. We see it all the time down here in tourist land with dopes trying to take low gunwale flats boats out in the gulf on windy choppy days

Hull is too small for those waters. It looks like he was coming in too fast and let off but he ended up sliding back into the wake he was creating. That pushed the back of his boat up and nose down. He would've been better off staying in the throttle.

SEAMANSHIP, it's just not a word. most on here rarely need to have concern with these issues, however I hope threads like this can alert people to the potential danger they may get themselves's into without real experience. fun out
