Has anyone found a digital tachometer with longer than a 5 or 6 ft wire?
There are a lot of little digital tachometer / hour meters on Amazon and Ebay for only about $20 to $30. Its a great idea, but they all have only about a 5 or 6 ft wire. What about a boater that wants to read the rpm in the cockpit while driving?
Has anyone seen one with a sufficiently long wire for our purposes?

These small digital tachometers don't work off the same signal that a dial tachometer works off of (I think, could I be wrong about that?). They have an antenna wire you wrap around one of the spark plug wires. The device counts sparks making them extremely accurate as long as the spark plug wire you're using is not too close to other spark plug wires or other interference. You have to set the meter to either 2 stroke (or wasted spark 4 stroke) or regular 4 stroke. I don't think using the traditional tach wire will work.
