    Oil inj or not?

AEfter removing my oil inj i realized what a royal pain in the ... it is! mixing, measuring storing oily hands above all remembering. im putting it back on oh no gagging smoke. im gonna gas her up hammer it like always. if it blows so be it. my mixing days are over ive got enough to think about besides calculating oil ratios. weekend warrior as long as my capt. morgan & 7up is mixed accurate im happy....didnt realize what a conflict i created staying with team injection!

I mix a gallon of oil to 40 gallons of gas, so it is not that hard!

Ive been looking at tons of boats lately , and the consensus is everyone mixes, unless you have a newer opty

Yep, plus it keeps the mosquitos at bay. If I'm a little heavy on oil who cares, better too much than too little. BTDT

you can spot weak mathematical skills when it comes to this.
they get in a tizzy at every fill up.
i keep 3 or 4 quarts of oil in battery compartment.
it doesn't have to be perfect.
pint to 6 gal, quart to 12...it's not that hard.
oh no, it holds 18 gallons...

When I bought my Bumble Bee with a 1991 XR4 150 just over 20 years ago I read everything I could on mixing vs continuing using the injection system and decided, for the time being I use the injection system. That was over 20 years ago and its worked great ever since. I've saved several gallons of 2 stroke oil because at idle, it mixes only 100:1, so way less smoke at idle.

you better change the clear or formerly clear oil lines.
i've seen them shattered. they get brittle.

The oil injection on my 1988 XR4 is still on and working. Since I bought it in the fall of 1987, once I received an oil warning beep that I believe ended up being a defect swith box, and once the oil line did get brittle and failed, luckily at low rpm. So that is good advice to replce the line. Granted I don't go over 6K rpm very often. In any case, I am fixing up another 150 for another boat I have and am hoping to use the oil injection on that also. If I had and engine that was regularly run over 6200rpm or so, I probably would not use the oil injection as that is about the cutoff I've heard where issues may occur.

85 yammy 115. Still smoth as butter 1 oil pump (res to on engine) and a temp sensor.

It’s one of thoes Yamaha’s that make people want Yamaha’s when they hear about it.

    Brother runs it now.

I run run a opti now 06 still kicking. Though I am starting to worry about the oil draining away from the compressor. It always goes back up, but it’s spooky with all the failures.

I usually know about how much gas I am going to take on seeing through the side of my tank on Checkmate with an old Black Max. I bought a container that has graduations and markings on the side of it for ratio's vs gallons for everything from 25:1 to 100:1. It is easy I guess usually on the low side how much gas I am putting in pour in the oil and if I fall short and want to add another few gallons it is simple to just pre-measure for anything from 1 more gallon on to what ever I need.

I also have one of the early OMC 140 hp with the very first VRO pump ever installed. It runs flawless for the past 7 years as long as I have owned it. I did rebuild the VRO pump with new diaphragms and O-rings a few years ago for peace of mind. I have to admit it is very nice to just put straight gas in that tank.

have 2,4 mariner=mag 220 chrome bore. its eazy to blame the oil pump for all sorts of trouble proving it is a different story. i blew a couple with pre mix. now for racing going past limiter illl say premix. dont think merc would design a 15k-18k motor with a inferior oil system.
