Looper.stator testing?
Last year my main fuse in my motor 1986 johnson 200 2.7 was blowing several times. I thought it was because my vol9was spiking up to over 17 volts so i replaced the voltage regulator with a brand new one and now charges great 13.4 to 14 . But first trip out on the river thursday the same main 20amp fuse blew 3 times. I am running a electric fuel pump wired with a relay and the relay signal wire is connected to the pjrple wire lug on this connector lug. This new regulator does not have a purple wire comming out of it to go to the bar. Would a bad stator cause the main fuse to blow? How do i test it exactly? What ohms? Wires?

Never seen a stator cause the fuse to blow. I would start by wiring the signal wire to the pump relay separate from any engine wiring or main harness. IMO run a separate power wire from battery to an on off switch then to the relay. That way if it still blows you will know its on the engine side. You could also check to see what the amp draw is with pump on versus off.

Thankx Al. Ill try that run the relay signal wire to a diffrent power sorce.

The fuel pump has its oun 15 amp fuse but has never blown. Only the enging fuze is blowing.thus stopping the purple wire from being hot that triggers the relay for pump.
So you think the purple wire is shorting out somewhere?

A wire , any wire that has power going forward of the fuse . If the wire gounds out to ground you blow your fuse . Power to your gauges , key switch , power trim relay wires . If you have been blowing fuses what where you doing each time . Right after you trim the motor , trim relay wires . Just started it after drifting , you may have a bad key switch . A gauge going bad ? Did you add a sound system that's wired to the power wire [keyed]and its starting a amp ? Or a auto bilge pump that is starting on its own , it should have not been wired thru the key switch ?If you have a second control box plug it in see what happens .............

Nothing electrical was added. Blowes the fuse randomly while engine is running. Will check for worn wires

Hmmm.... wonder if this is my lil Gremlin on my wire that signals the relay?
