FWIW - The following may prove beneficial for someone looking for a specific manufacturer part and unable to get.

I inquired numerous parts outlets about the availability of this cdi from Yamaha. Every one I contacted said the same thing, "There are 3 in Japan. We can order but it could take months for the trip to the States if, at all." What I found was http://www.megazip.net This place is a mecca for foreign, genuine OEM parts for virtually every consumer vehicle that burns gasoline out of Japan. Read some reviews and since they use PayPal and various other major credit cards I felt I could take the risk and order the part. That gave me some buying protection if the part never arrived. What happens now is a prime example of global trade across the internet. I ordered the cdi. By the way, the price was over $200 cheaper with the ride than the lowest-priced Yamaha parts house in the US could give me. Shipping was $40. Ordered the part on 6/23 and it arrived at my door in Texas on 7/3. Brand new, Yamaha packaging in 10days. Give the site a look. If you're not in a pinch and need a big-ticket item, this place may work for you, too.
