    Have to vent....

Cust came in, just bought a boat with an optimax from another dealer an hour or so away. Wont run. I look it over and it takes about 5min to figure out the fuel is FULL of water. Call the cust, apparently the other shop just did a full fuel service to solve a water issue, including injectors, rails, and new plugs. Cost the guy a pretty penny.... and hes been out exactly one time since then and it died on him...this is what I find....

    This is from the VST

These injectors sure do look like they where just sent to be cleaned right?

What's this? I would think when disassembling the rails to clean them you would notice the fact that they are completly rotted out.....

New plugs sure don't last long anymore.... 1 hour of run time and they are shot!

And it took another 5 mins to find that the water is coming in through the sending unit on the tank... whoever replaced the unit stripped all the threads and it wont seal....

Im thinking that the customer THOUGHT that the fuel system was replaced . But only something else was done to it.
Kinda like when someone thinks a motor is REBUILT and sells it as rebuilt but in reality only new heads and plugs and reeds were done.

I believe this guy, he bought the boat and it was supposed to be part of the deal. The dealer that sold the boat, supposedly did the work, told him that the fuel system was full of water and they had went through and Done complete service on the fuel system. He even commented about how pissed off he was because he had to pay for the spark plugs that they supposedly put in.

But maybe he is wrong. Still though a shop that NEW the boat had a running issue with that much water should have fixed this ****

I guess my main point is, what kind of shop would see that much water in the fuel system, and not go through and actually address all the issues Downstream, or fix the source of the leak.

Reminds me of a gas station down the street from where I worked 30 years ago.... We had a slew of fords and lincolns come in with twisted broke oil pump rods (the hexagon ones). Turns out they all had their valve cover gaskets replaced by the same guy at the gas station down the street.... he was letting the old gasket peices fall into the motor and they would end up in the oil pump, locking it up and twisting off the rod..................

Here's another from this morning.... I was out running a boat that Fullers just rebuilt a power head on for us (Awesome job by the way) and this guy was at the ramp . another "mechanic" just rebuilt these carbs for him..... guys a dock builder and went to put the boat in to work today.... obviously wouldn't idle.... so he's down for a couple of days while I fix him up. Tanks need to be cleaned and pumped too.
