Richard " Dick" Hunter the "Dictator" #706 Passed Away
It is with much sadness and heavy heart that I announce the passing of my father Richard "Dick" Hunter #706
Dad Raced APBA in the early to mid 70's He ran FJ & UJ Classes. He was US#2 in 1972, US#1 in 1973,1974, and 1975
he was also the holder of 2 world records. FJ class one hour marathon in Key West, Fl. and UJ Class sprint race record was set in Lakeland, Fl.
We as a family along with Dad has so many great friends in the racing community. It has been a long time and unfortunately have lost touch with most of them. I really hope this awesome site might help to get the word out to some old friends.
Dad passed away on 4-1-2018 Easter Sunday. There will be a memorial service on Saturday 4-14-2018 at 10:am in Melbourne Fl. at
Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home
1010 Palmetto Avenue
Melbourne, FL
We as a family, his children Clay, Christy, and Eilene would like to extend our invitation to any of his racing friends and families that would like to attend. Also any comments here on the site would be welcomed.
The full obituary can be seen here : https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/fl...?pid=188668509

Your Loving Son

I am so sorry, Clay. There is no doubt that his legacy will always inspire boat racers and action-sports enthusiasts forever. It’s a terrible loss.

Jim, Thank You so much for the kind words. Great to hear from you again ! You were always one of the really good guys around the races too, and one I had hoped to hear from. I do remember Brian racing rc, and think you were staying at a beach side hotel near us. After 30 years I am back racing rc again. I have a pic from one of our photo albums that was very special to dad. I was pleasantly surprised to find it this week.

Clay and family
I send my deepest condolences and i apologize for not responding here sooner. Your father was a great racer/promoter/ambassador for the OPC racing that we loved, but beyond that he was a great person. The photo above of him taking a moment with a young fan (me) is but one example. The proverb about a village to raise kids certainly applied to all of us growing up. Our OPC "village" was filled with parents/racers, like your father, that have molded us into the men and women that we are today. Like Matt and Ron mentioned, i was fortunate to have grown up in that "village" and feel blessed to have known your father. R.I.P. Mr. HunterLast edited by brianT2; 04-20-2018 at 09:52 PM.
