Quite a few Chrysler sterndrives turned up in OZ, they had good engines of course.
Chrysler had a big install base of shaft drive engines, much bigger than Merc

Back in the day, George DoBraff was the Merc dealer (Big George's) on Lake Sinisippi where Chrysler tested. I bought my Switzer Hugger from him. Had a small balcony from his office overlooking the lake, with a telescope and telescopic lens camera. Said anytime Chrysler was testing something he would photo it and send it to Fond du Lac!

Big George was cool, my father bought two red switzer shooting stars from him in the early 1970's and a 125 super bp and a new in the box set of open stacks for said motor. He was cool gave me a but load of stickers, patches and a lot of other merc and Switzer swag, will always remember the cussing and swearing he did the year that the lake was drained and the water level was dropped way down for some resend, so low that there was no water under his dock and couldn't use his launch. I believe it to be 1972? or maybe 1971?

Here is a pic of one of the red shooting stars that my father bought from Big George, at the time of this pic the boat had been sold to a friend of my fathers who rigged it with a 135 Chrysler race engine that had open stacks, not on motor in this pic and a Chrysler speed master that broke, was taken off and the boat was on my fathers lift waiting for speed master repair. My mother took these pic's only to aggravate the friend of my dadClick image for larger version.
