    Change to Fat Shaft

Went to the lake today and had the misfortune of breaking the small prop shaft on my Merc 280 Sportmaster and left a freshly DAH worked 29 SRX at the bottom of the lake! Guess I'll have no choice but to go to a fat shaft since small shafts are so rare. Any parts besides the prop shaft need to be changed to go to the fat shaft? Anyone have a 2.5 Sportmaster prop shaft they want to sell? Thanks.

A 4 hole CLE 1 1/4 late style propshaft is easier to find with small splines. Fatshaft is same dimensions inside the carrier

Wouldn't happen to know the part number would you? I'm assuming it would work in the sportmaster?

1 1/4" small shaft has been NLA for years. All you need is the fat shaft, seal kit, retainer lock. Recommend a new retainer nut as well.

Most the custom prop shops have them but not sure they sell them. Some more the hub out slightly larger and do final balance when done.

No, not unless you use a smallshaft carrier.
