Good time to be here Gary. Lot of the tourists are heading back up nawth with their motor homes and the roads are getting better. Place was a real zoo for a while. Never seen traffic so bad.

You would hate Toronto for its traffic, a few miles takes over an hour minimum during most of the day.
Add a little snow and it's over!
    Tarpons, too early?

Real close to Tarpon time. I have been chasing some tarpon hanging in a canal basin off the Caloosahatchee river. Small fish in the 30-50 pound range. Fun to catch. Most of my customers really want the big ones in the 100+ size range that we target out in the gulf or open bays. There are some fish here, but not the large pods that really get things going. Bait is not abundant yet. All at once you will see bait, the tarpon and followed by the large sharks.

Wild! That's something I must do.

Large sharks, that's why I'd never go swimming. Just hanging out over the drop off waiting to take revenge for all the fish I've caught up here.

Great Lakes surface temp comparison years 17/18 . If you're around the lakes its colder this year and the levels are higher which could keep things cooler for longer .

The amount which leaves the basin into the Mississippi is very small , through the Chicago diversion. It really doesn't have much impact on downriver conditions. Even with all gates open unless upper Mississippi watershed snow melt is extreme. Regulations prevent anything more than what's rule to be diverted. Conditions aren't warranted for anything like that.
The upper tributaries and basins of the the rivers that feed the Muddy are all important factors in how much is coming. Rain and snow melt takes its time getting down.
This is what has fallen as rain in the last 30 days

    Look out , nerd alert.
Those precip maps seem to be updating. Couldn't bother isolated pics but you get the idea.
US government weather sites have amazing info available.
