Sorry to hear that. Thats about like my Dodge Ram Hemi I just blew up 108k miles. It happens to every brand. Its unfortunate for sure. I purchased an extended warranty so I feel good about it. Was yours the 2.7 or the 3.5?

Never been a ford fan but the wife wanted an explorer last year when we where expecting. Her 2 door wouldn't cut it.

Ended up with the sport model explorer. 365hp twin turbo f-ing rocket is what it is! Thing is super fast and handles damn good for a SUV. Been a good car. Have around 30,000 on it now I reckon and no issues.

Does it run bias to the rear wheels when cruising, I don't think it's all wheeling all the time?

It bias the rear until you change the mode.

No lowrange. That's the only Thing I didn't like but we have 4 other vehicles that are all real 4wd so no biggie. The different "modes" really do work well and they put equal torque to front and rear like high range in a true 4wd.

It has a screen that shows the power distribution and in normal mode it's biased rear a little under normal driving but the harder you lay on the skinny pedal the more goes front.

If you put it in sand mode and sport it takes of all the nanny stuff and will scratch all 4 tires when you mat it from a stop.... It's insane. I daily drive a 600hp diesel and her car is WAY more fun.

The f150 weighs 4700lbs my 24 skater on trailer was 4600 the trailer had 4 wheel disc brakes dual axle trailer one brake on each wheel this combination will flat out stop probably better a 3/4 ton hauling the same weight because of weigh differences and traction amount with tread contact area. Also I have class cdl and drive a truck that is 30k-50k daily. Anyways I live in New Port Richey Florida which is the next town over from Hudson so the chances of you being a lane next to me is pretty good.

anyws the 3.5 and 2.7 are very great little engines. The only drawback I see about them is the sound they make when put exhaust on them is awful. Just not v8 truck sound you expect and love

I bought my wife a new F150 with the 5.0 coyote motor. With borla pipes it sounds like a old school hot rod. Very deep growl. But as mentioned earlier in a post needs a little rpm's to really get on the power band. But, It will smoke em from a standing start easy. E-locker rear, 4x4 and 3.73's. New trucks are really too nice to be used as trucks....Mustangs with beds on em, really.

The early 3.5 had a major issue with carbon build up on the intake valves from cold start. It was redesigned and and they then added multi cylinder injection to try and wash it away. Also the placement of the trubo for temp reasons. Supposedly the 2.7 has not had any of those issues as far as ive read.

They make an oil sump for the 3.5 turbo'ed motors to keep the intake cleaner. They would get coked up from oil coning thru the pcv. Not an expert, but read up on it at one time when buying a new truck. Not sure but don't think the 2.7 eco needs it?

Think about how complicated those motors are, I would have no problem digging into a new Chevy 5.3. A ecoboost not so much. That’s the main reason I didn’t buy one.
