Deka is now the only game left in town for true lead acid batteries ?
I installed a new C.D.I stator,reg/rectifier and new lead acid flooded battery for my 1983 Merc 200.I took the boat out and was pegging the volt meter at W.O.T....So i give C.DI a call and they tell me it's my battery and need to purchase a Deka or Interstate and i need to go from a group 24 to a larger capacity, which had me shaking my head seeing that my boat has had a group 24 in it since it was build.I decided to give them a call back and get a different guy,he tells me the group 24 is fine and can only use a Deka battery. He says that about 3 years ago all companies except Deka have made there flooded batteries maintenance free regardless if it has caps on top.I am a bit blown away at this info, that all of us with old school motors are down to only one option, especially when i can't get a Deka battery any place in the NW and takes 3 weeks to get....I am also wondering which guy was correct about Interstate batteries.

I can't be sure but last year I need a battery while out of town in up state Michigan no chain auto part stores. The local battery guy said to stay away from green top interstate' s. They put their name on some one else battery. Think he said exide. The black top interstate are the good ones.

Funny ,cause i went into a giant Interstate store and the guy told me the green tops are fine and they have made no changes...I decided to walk trusting the one guy from C.D.I.I guess i will give them a call and see what they say about black tops and if they can bring one in.

First thing that popped was Lowe's for Deka,it said i would have it by 4-13.Batteries plue also uses a relabeled Deka lead acid flooded without caps on top in stock down the road from my shop, guess i should just call Deka and see what they say.

It's all the other companies that changed the chemistry,Deka is the only one that has not.I figure that is why they have no clue what C.D.I is talkimg about.
