Anyone in/around Cape Coral?
Looking to possibly rent a house there for vacation this summer from a guy named Hartmut Beier at 4505 Pelican Blvd. If we do I'd love to get together and meet some folks one day, thinking hard of bringing my boat with us since this particular house is on the canal with a dock.

You are going to have at least an hour idle to get to the river. Then have to idle more to get to an area to plane out. Fairly nice area of the cape though. You will like the upper river area better. A few guys from here run it now and then...

Good point, I didn't think about that. I stayed on SE 31st Street in Cape Coral with my best friends dad around 2002 for about a year. He had a 52' Silverton (I think it was 52', might have been 48-50). We took it out a couple times into the Caloosahatchee, once to see fireworks and once we went down the Caloosahatchee into the waterway around Matlacha (InterCoastal?) and up towards Matlacha or Bokeelia to a boat repair shop to have prop shaft seals, props and a few other things replaced/fixed on the boat. We got caught in a really bad storm about 70% of the wa to our destination and I seriously thought I was gonna have to drink ALL that water cause I KNEW we were gonna sink! Alas we made it safe and sound, and wet as a dolphin's arse. My friends father owned Pine Island Airport back then, now he is a Sea Tow Captain living his dream, one day I aim to be as happy and easy going as he is.

Scott alot of the Canals over there dont even go out to open water. Be careful. I vacationed in Ft Myers for 23 years before deciding to buy a place in Stuart.

You can keep the east coast , when I came here Naples was a small town , was in Saint Pete , now in season it is growing out of control , Punta Gorda is still laid back .
Off season you still can't beat Naples , nobody around then, thinking about renting the house out for peak season$$ going somewhere else
The Caloosahatchee is about your best bet with a small boat , 60 some miles long, no speed limits unless by a bridge. We have invented the world; WE see

The advantage of the east coast of Florida, is the Gulfstream, and what it gives the coast. The east coast is, most of the year, the windward side. A constant cooling affect breeze, and all its other benefits. The west coast basically, the Leeward side. The beaches differ from the west coast greatly, in all aspects. The east coast is an ocean, the west coast is technically a sea...not an ocean.

East Coast was our choice after many years in Ft Myers. Just got to over crowded. Getting to Ft Myers Beach during the season was almost impossible, and pay for parking? Never. Cape Coral is nice but it never recovered from the Chinese Drywall abortion. JMO

Love Stuart. Been going there my entire life. Parents had a condo on the beach on Hutchinson Island forever. Watched Stuart grow from a nothing, deserted, little known getaway town, to what it is today. From eating at & seeing Francis Langford & Ralph Evinrude at her Outrigger Resort in Jensen Beach on the water, with Ralphs "Chanticleer" yacht in they're basin there, to the "old'' Elliot Museum on the beach side, to Bathtub Beach, and the House of Refuge and everything else. Great area. You have a little place there in old Stuart on the main river, right venomous?

Yes Im on the south fork of the St. Lucie. I too toured Mr. Evinrudes boat when I was 10. My Parents always took us to this little hotel in Jensen Beach by the bowing ally and ballfield. We walked down to the Outrigger and there was his blue and white yacht. The Captain was there and my dad being dad asked him for a tour. Wonderful memories. Chaz actually drove me around a couple years ago and we found the hotel we stayed at just like I remember.

Yeah Naples WAS a little fishing village with the OMC test center here,
This area was known as the mid west southern spot where the very wealthy lived,
NOT showing their wealth , but laying low.We have invented the world; WE see
