Motor sent was exactly same configuration as on photo, without clutch and grime. Had been developed as a car motor, for DKW Germany, by Heinkel. 2 ltr looper.
BTW, the world records mentioned here for the Monza fiberglass coupe, were established with DKW`s 1100cc 3-cylinder motor, not with the V6. The V6 motor never was produced in numbers. Was run at Le Mans in a Monza coupe, led class till hour 23, when it succumbed to water-pump failure.

I re-read he merc v6 history thread and it seems there was another new engine project under Kiekhaefer that was scrapped due to size constraints. That would have been the project that the DKW went in for in ‘66. A Husquvarna dirt bike engine was evaluated during the development of the “Black Max.”

Sure was a fun time in Merc history, back in the day when they tested race boats right on the fox river and lake Winnebago, and even had like 25 outboards of all sizes bolted to the dock running day and night on the river in Oshkosh. Use to love to go on the river with my father by boat just to see this stuff up close and personal. Very cool time

SO here's the wheel . Then MERC , OMC , CHRYSLER ( yes a V6 looper would have gone far except for parent company issue), Yammi all try to make it rounder. SO who has the roundest now and in the years to come, Merc's getting fewer , Yammi one V6 left on the international , and then RUDE with the roundest.

I think the original 1750 was roundest! The new ones haven’t gotten rounder, just bigger around!
