Mercury Formula race 60 Engine help / 13' Bullet Boat setup Recomdations

I'm in the process of rebuilding/recoring a Bullet 130 13' mini boat. These boats from what i have read respond best to 15" mids with as little setback as possible. Im trying to figure out what to repower it with. I like the fact that the MERC formula race comes with a 15" mid from the factory but the no warranty is scaring me. Is there a 15" mid that would bolt up to the regular merc 60? Is there a good selection of props for this engine? What about an etec 60? is there a 15" mid for that? props? I know most people will say just find a good 70hp OMC or something but i don't really want the 2 stoke hassle.

Bud of mine has a 2016 merc 15'' 60hp race motor. Ran it for 2 yrs and has had no problems. He uses it on a 13' whaler rigged as a fish boat and it sees a lot of use.

It only runs about 50...It's got a large hook on the bottom.

That's the respectable for that type of boat, can you run a low water pickup with these engines? Is his stock or did he do any modifications to it? Just curious to know what other little things can be done to these

Quite a few guys are running the 60 Formula race, they seem bullet proof. Tuff uses them on their 16 footer, see almost 60 MPH. Mercury Racing makes a cleaver for it, might work on yours, but it was mostly designed for the tunnel racing series:

Should be able to find other props no problem though. Engine has solid mounts too which is great.

Thats awesome it really makes me lean toward a new 4 stroke. it weighs the same as a 2 stoke I would put on but be new and quieter. Anyone know the approx price for a new one? Is a foot throttle usable with these engines?

Yes to foot throttle. Probably about $6,000 not for sure on that though. Contact Merc.
