Mercury id ?
Can anybody pls help id on this engine ,this photos is all i have new owner bought it on a auction ,have not seen it dont know anything about it, is this a bridge port or a race engine will it make a reliable fast fishing motor, he tells me it is a 2.5l block 200hp?

looks ta be "production" motor.. '91 if carbs are correct... outside chance '92... could be 2.0 135/150, 2.4 150 (fat block xr4), 2.5 150 (xr6) 2.5 200.. close as I can tell with what ya got ta work with......

well thanks sorry cannot be more specific what about the cowl dont it gives you any indication ,that cowl with the openings on the sides was that not for your top range models or racing motors

Thats a fishing motor with a bridgeport cowl. Look at the "custom" bracket on the bottom carb holding the front of the pan. Just like tlwjkw said.

Ok here is another photo ,the leg is without bottom cowl ,only with a pan and it fasten with bungee cords ,from what i can recall it is only your high perfomance motors that has this

look for a serial number on tha welsh plug (1st picture).. look for build date stamped on tha "block half" (second picture) kinda behind tha bend in tha timin' arm or on tha block flange............

80's mid & gearcase. No zinc on gearcase like 80's gearcases. (??) As said, need the serial number off clamp and/or powerhead.

anode's showed up early ninties,, maybe '93/94.. when tha cle went away and sporty showed up.....
