Yes! was just going to update. I am going back out for some more footage and have the next episode up soon. Bulkheads have been almost complete, and next phase will be to finish up inside the hull. Measure for new tank etc.

One thing I am thinking a lot about is the engine now. And, with the new Mercury's it makes it even more difficult. Here's what I am thinking. I was kind of sold on going with a 225 HP engine, for combination of performance and budget.

    1. Mercury V6 3.4 225 - add after market solid mounts (digital controls)
    2. Mercury V8 ProXS 225 (digital) add solid mounts
    3. G2 225 - aftermarket solid mounts (digital)
    4. Yamaha SHO 225 - aftermarket solid mounts (mechanical)
    5. Racing 250R (comes mechanical only for now)

The mercury V6 wins on weight, and price. The Yamaha is a close second. The 250R is tempting because out of the box it is excellent, already has solid mounts, would prefer digital, but not a deal breaker. A little pricey though.

    What do you guys think?

Episode 6 is up, we show the bulkheads installed, talk about the notch in the transom and if we might fill it. Plus, we talk about the engines.

Any progress or picked and engine yet? I got mine in the water and love the ride. No top end yet, the engine is giving me a couple of problems I'm working out. The Gremlins in this motor surfaced and the eviction notice has been handed to them.

Yes, will have a new video up soon. The next couple of weeks will really push along. Have to pick a color soon, engine etc.

Sorry to hear about your engine. You have the 225 Yamaha HPDI? How much setback are you running?

I think I am leaning toward a Merc or Yamaha, 225 HP. Boat color, leaning toward silver, or red.

I have a 2.4 liter 200 Mercury with a 12" setback and a 4"hydraulic transom on that. Rides real nice in chop, so far 61 mph but needs more prop, turning 6100 rpm but then the Gremlin returns. I didn't build this engine so I don't know what's done to it.

Sounds like you'll be in good shape when you get those gremlins.

Just my opinion but boat will be pretty boring at mid 70 mph and you soon will want more HP.

For me, I think a 225 or 250 is perfect for that boat. Boat should be a little lighter now, hull should be nice and straight and maybe perform better than new. I hear you though, trying to keep it within a certain budget too. If any of you want to get me a 250R or 300R for an early birthday present, I will gladly accept!

Episode 7 is up, a quick one showing the support tabs glassed in and front bulkhead. 55 Gallon tank is ordered. Should get really busy soon, hardware, engine choice and paint color.

    Couple of questions -
    1. The original bow bulkhead was a ring frame, ie it was connected across the top, which added support to the deck as well. What's the plan as far as support for the deck in that area now ?
    2. I know Mark built some of the hulls with a pair of stringers on each half of the hull, as well as the configuration yours has with the diagonal tabs. Curious as to the change between the two different methods if he wouldn't mind sharing and which one he would use if building new now ?
    3. Not sure if you mentioned it in an earlier episode, what are your plans for the floor - (he had a mold for that on his later builds) ?

Ya, the support tabs are because of the lack of room for full stringers. Ones that do have them, may have a higher floor? But I'm not sure.

We will put a new floor in, composite, not sure if he has the mold for it still. But the plan is to either do a snap out carpet, or SeaDek for the finishing surface.
