    Project Activator

Hey Guys, thought you would want to follow along on our YouTube channel for our 22 Activator project. We just posted the introduction video and will be updating new episodes weekly or more. I'll try and update on Scream and Fly as well.

Hoping to see some of the NY / CT members on the water this summer, if it ever comes.

Very interested in how you will set the boat up. For top end? For all-round? For "offshore"?
Looking forward to the next episode where you reveal your thoughts on engine choices.
(I commented on your Youtube channel).

Thanks everyone! Yes, we will reveal more as we go. Next episode will discuss engine choices. I would say it's not going to be a top speed boat, more all around and efficient.

great project but if i may give one word of advice...Talk to Mark before you move the tank and change the tank size...Those boats are VERY SENSITIVE to weight distribution and there is the Famous YELLOW ACTIVATOR that had some changes made to the tank area and the floor that threw the boat off badly and caused it to porpoise terribly...Mark knew what was wrong with it as that was a boat built by someone else from his molds(long story)....I played with the yellow boat for a few weeks and tried alot of tricks to get the boat to settle down and the ones that worked slowed the boat down significantly....the owner eventually sold the Yellow activator hull with full disclosure of its issues and lost a ton of money....he bought a 22 progression from the factory here in copiague and is extremely happy with its performance....

that being said having owned a 22 activator and run a bunch over the years its a great boat...alot of fun and loves rough water....

Thanks Ghost. The tank will probably be just a little smaller and not throw the CG off at all, plus this one will be heavier than that yellow one from what I understand. I may PM you about it though.

If you want less capacity i woukd make the tank the same dimensions and just make it lower by a few inches so that the footprint stays the same....

Great Idea to show whats involved in making one of these classics Useable again, Will you be posting material and labor costs? A lot of people think it is a low cost option to purchasing new or well maintained boats.

those tanks are pretty shallow as it is, and if a subfloor is in the plan to allow the bow to drain to the stern it becomes even shallower
what saves them is the fittings being in the bilge above deck level otherwise the tanks would be like 3-4" high lol

He asked me to hide it when Hurricane Sandy was coming, then it sat here for like a year. its been indoor storage in freeport for the last 5 years, I bet he has only used it a dozen times if that since it went to freeport. I have his trailer here. He always says he wants to sell the boat- he has a few kids now and wants to move to LI.

Noli- PPI, aint cheap for those seats but they are nice and fairly light

you talking about hoppy, the yellow/white bottom. and i believe the only 22 activator with a full liner. Everyone tries no one seems to get it normal. I kind of think someone needs to remove the liner and throw it away there is no other explanation for the hop? Be a shame the liner completes the boat nice.
That is not a Mark boat.
Hoops boat I pictured up above is a mark boat, no hop.

wavetowave- is Mark restoring this your boat?
