    Any Stinger Experts.

    I have a 72 Stinger Mk1 Im tinkering with looking for guidance with it, Im not an OMC person Im a Chrysler nut but this old thing came my way I fell in love with it, Id like to know just how good these are, hopefully someone can id the prop the blades are weird was told its a ballistic prop its all alloy even the ring around the nose which are usually plastic and damaged chipped etc, Im building a 14 foot timber hull just for this motor keen to know how it might goClick image for larger version.

    see how the top edge of blade is near straight other OMC props Ive had of older donks like this were not like this the top edge was curved, there are no markings on this prop i can find, excuse the epic fail paint job I recoated too soon and Im a painter erk lol

    Would anyone in oz have a wrck I need carbs, silencer, starter might get a new one, mixture linkage for front knob is gone, tilt pin, tilt motor its the early motor which sideways, need the ram and transom bracket i have the big cast alloy brkt on the transom mount, it will be missing other add on bits I need to see another power head to see whats gone, need a control box with harness and cable too

    Dropbear
    There was a few 65 HP Johnson Stinger 2 with long shaft only (20) with hydraulic/electric shift sold 1972. (First picture).
    In my opinion its not a very good engine. Over 45 year old and the gearcase is the weak link.
    Dont spend to much money restoring it. The 1973 model and up is a way better engine and no electric shift. (The 1975 model year with the Nitro gearcase is even better)

    PS..One very good thing with this 1972 engine is the lighter flywheel. The 1973 flywheel is much heavier. (the 72 flywheel fit the 73 and up) Second picture.
