    Stv RR transom height question.

Hello all! Sorry kinda a noob question, I have searched and not found too much on this. I just got a RR with a nicely setup 200hp FF motor on a 15 inch cut straight leg (not offshore) mid. I also have a 280 with a 20 inch offshore. My question is how do I determine what size mid my transom was built for and would it be a bad idea to put a 20 inch offshore where my 15 inch was? I could just put the 280 and 1 piece plate on the 15 inch bass can if that's my best option. Thanks in advance everyone.

Yep that’s a 15”. Pretty sure all Lightning STV’s were 15”. You can run a 20” on it with a jackplate, but they run best on the transom.....so stick with the 15” for sure.

I like the 15 it feels right and is easier on the transom which I love haha. Damn it really love the offshore though. Will my 280 have a hard time trying to exhale through that bass mid? Its got holes drilled but I don't know if that's enough for 8200rpms of exhaust... Maybe hurt performance?

Anthony that's a 15 inch transom. Most of the LPB's had a 20" except for a couple of the last ones built.

As Randy said these hulls do not need any added setback so keep the 15" mid section, lose the jack plate, bolt engine high as you can to the transom and put that 280 on there and you will be one happy camper.

The 280 also came with 20" bass mids and they exhale fine. Ive also ran 280's on a cut down 20 to 15 mid and they ran great so getting the exhaust out is not an issue IMO.

If you decide to use the 280 exhaust plate and tuner in that cut down bass mid you will have to cut some of the bottom off of the tuner to get it to fit in that mid because the 280 tuner is too long and will bottom out. We had to trim away a portion of the tuner to fit in there but can be done. I have done it a couple times and they breath fine. Remember the exhaust also relieves through the gear case as well as the drilled holes in your can.

In reference to whos hull that was. If the intermediate bulk heads in the outside sponson's have circles in them then that was mine witch was LPB's second attempt to build me a hull at the weight I ordered. Maybe post a pic of the intermediate bulk heads in the sponson's and I can tell you for sure. If it is Dave driefort pushed that Lightning to 135. I know a lot of Die Hard Wally Fans don't want to hear that but it did. Dave said he was very please at how well that hull ran and handled.

    Hope this helps Anthony

Wow this is some damn good info thank you guys. I'm still learning trying to figure this out. So it wouldn't really be a good idea nor even really possible to put the 20 inch offshore on there with no jackplate. Prop shaft would be way low I'd imagine.
