Why do you feel that way? What in your opium makes them the best? Only asking because I have a few and am wondering if i'm missing out on something by not using them

Good question. I always thought the singles were the way to go.

I know that on the two ram brackets, two of the bolts in stock form were hollow and the power trim lines feed threw them, also the transom bolt pattern to the boats transom was different than any others

They’re the lightest by far, stronger than a 3 ram, they’re FAST with the right pump. OMC sterndrive pump should do the trick. Clean setup if you can run the lines through the transom too! Very nice for a small light boat that doesn’t need any setback. You can mount it on a plate if you run the lines externally.

I could not have said it any better. You just described exactly how I run mine. The only negative is the bolt pattern is different.Set the two side by side and look at what it takes to build each one, then you will understand why Merc went with the single!

You told me how to set up mine a few years ago so I can’t really take credit!

Thanks for that info guys, just started a new v-king project and have a brand new omc sterndrive pump, thinking I am going to give this stet up a try on that boat, Guess I just never had a open mind to using a twin ram before now.

If i cannot find cables for my Vking, I was going to put a seastar system on my 1978 merc. I think all I need to do is grind off the 2nd steering tube holder that Bob is talking about so that the ram can get to the tilt tube. Anyway, easy to drill the plate. Bolt the bottom 2 holes on the clamp to the plate, they I think are the same width apart as a newer BIA clamp. Then once you have it centered and secured with the bottom two bolts drill the top holes.
