This is for all OB oils.

The biggest benefit of synthetic lubricants technology is realized in crankcase lubricants. For example if you try to start an engine at the north pole, a synthetic based lubricant will resist the extreme cold better. Same goes for extreme heat. Or extended change intervals.

None of these conditions exist when the oil is burned with gasoline.

And BTW- I use the cheapest (any brand) motor oil that meets the current spec for the application. For common crankcases it's SN for gasoline and CK for diesel. If it meets the spec who cares what the label says? Yes really!

I thought the synthetic re extreme heat makes it like castor oil in that a severe friction point in the engine might survive with these oil but not with conventional oils?
tcw only tested on stock engines under 6k to meet the spec.

From what I've read sn might not be better than sl rating...something about flat tappets like additives like zink and phosphorus, sulpher and such but cat converters not so much. What do ya know about this? Will a synthetic 4 stroke oil mitigate the lack of additives as so far OB's don't use cats..

Brother there's always a hole in paradise... lubricants are improved and therefore the specs are revised and updated to meet the needs of the general public. I can't address the needs of extreme high performance engines but I expect... the needs do not differ from the engines that they are derived from.

BTW- There's a whole generation of SM spec between SL and SN.

Actually I got that info off an antique auto forum..but I think most OB''s use flat tappets..

...just used sl for an example..

Ya..original post about 2 smoke oil but just had to ask while I had a chance

Remember that commercial many years ago about their new synthetic motor oil? They started 2 autos and drained the oil while running and the synthetic oil equipped auto ran much longer before seizing.. was like 40 year ago...

Oh...your present location says you probably haven't

OK I can always learn. It's bio and renewable. What's the downside?

And what friction spec is it beating?

Let the flaming begin. I'm slipping on the suit........
I love my $10 a gallon oil. saves me money for beer and ice. For my high strung stuff I don't run much anymore Benol is available up the street in bulk reasonable enough.

Used it plenty in the past. It's priced well past it's usefulness now.
