It did fix it. And its repeatable. If I flip it back to half way it loses power again.

well it was pretty obvious that this was not right, surprised nobody else even thought about it.

if using a 17 pitch youl be fine for taking 5 friends and a ton of gear out in the boat.

What year 120? Small bore or big bore? How much did you rejet for the mods you mentioned? Has the bottom of boat been checked for straight?

Ok people the boat and motor are both fine. I was just asking if anybody knew what kind of gains I could expect to see from the mods I did to the motor (its a 91 racer). But I just got of the water and the gains are huge! The 18 pitch went 49.5 mph at 5900 and its still timed at 14 degrees for break in.

Yeah I saw the other post that it is running but with the mods you did it needs to be rejetted or it will be too lean to live.

who makes these knock off rakers ? are they cheap ? got a pic of one ?
or is it realy the Suzuki Thunder ( same as the raker )
So Im now wondering what these props really are. Because in the videos I just shot yesterday my boat ran 49.5 mph at about 5700 rpm. I will post the videos for ya.

You can see the tack and the gps in the upstream video. I didnt get the tack in the other one, but it was the same.

More update on the power improvements of this motor. I bought a 24 pitch raker yesterday and it will actually get out of the hole pretty well with it. I dont have speed numbers yet but thats way more prop than I thought it could do.

Decent cup good grip and perfect plane on the lift surface can provide - slip numbers but incorrect pitch rates are normally the culprit after market or worked props (repitched) can also do it along with regeared foots.

My my merc is that way has the pontoon/high altitude 2.33 instead of the normal 2.07 for a 90/115.

Once tuned and re jetted maybe 150 might have to switch to the 150 carbs. I don’t remember if that year the 115-150 were the same heads and the difference in carbs and reeds. Some of the older stuff was super simple to mod.

Cupping a prop changes things too.... if you buy a used prop, you don't know for sure if it's been cupped more or not unless you know props.......... My 16 Baja ran 57MPH with a 22 (I think) Raker @ 5700.... on a 115 bubbleback. Ran close to 70 with a 26 Mirage on a 175 Merc at close to 5800.......... it slowed down with a high five........... All the props wer bough used, and looked like they were worked on,,,,, so you never know what yer gonna get...........
