    Switzer Wing

    Switzer Wing from "Cat House"
This is a temporary location of the web material on the Switzer Wings that used to be on the "Cat House" web pages...
Some good Switzer information to be found here...

Call me crazy but I bought the red Star. Now I have 2. Haven't even picked up the first one yet but it needs lots of work, the red one is turnkey. Hope to send after it in a couple of days.

    Switzer Shooting Star

Both Switzers (Bob and Dave) are alive and kicking.

Bob lives in Wisconsin (I believe) somewhere close to lake Geneva. Dave lives in Florida (don't know exactly where).

I live one mile from the original factory and have lived there most of my life, my ex brother-in-law was a painter for Switzercraft. As a young man growing up, I spent alot of time at the factory and test site in Algonquin Illinois. As far as I was concerned there was no better place to be @ 6:00 am than at Algonquin watching Bob drive and fly a Switzer,,,great years and great memories!

I do run in to Bob on occasions at one of his favorire restraunts.

I think there was a thread on here a few months ago that Bob Switzer joined and gave everyone an update. I used to go by the plant also as my folks lived in McHenry (close to the plant). Don't know if the old thread is still on here but Bob's comments were interesting.

    You are

    one screwed up child.

You want to compare today's technology to that of 40 years ago.

Why don't you just go ahead and compare today's 280's, 300 Drags and 300X's to the 100's and finally the 125bp's we got then.. with your thinking, you'd probably say they ran like ****.

Bout time you screw your head on straight.

Ted...Ted...be kind. He wasn't there, He doesn't have the memories.........

The Flat Switzer really wasn't a good rough water boat....or heat racer , for that matter. What it did do was go like the dickens in a straight line......and make you pay dearly in choppy water or in turns. But back in the day the Vee hull was new phenomenon and even Allisons had flat bottoms. But, you have to remember that race pits looked like this as well. (Photo courtesy of John Sherlock.)
