2.4 200hp or 2.5 200hp
Hello
My name is Hans Buddy was my Dog He was bad azz.
I don't post much just read a lot.
I'm making the move from a stern drive boat to a outboard boat 1986 Larry smith Scarab with twin outboards.
I have one complete 2.4 200hp on a race mid section and a lefty locker.
Engine is complete was told it's a runner?
Other engine is a 1991 2.5 200hp carbureted on a race mid section it has a rusty crank and some small parts missing coils and flywheel has stock bore needs some wires Mice are a pain.
No corrosion on any parts.
Was raced in OPA west coast.
My Question is what is the best path to go at this point.
Would like to stay carbureted.
Sell engines start over.
Keep the 2.4 find one more or sell it.
Find two running 2.5s
Boat came with 26' pitch props.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

Pis shows two motors on the boat now ? The starboard motor lower unit with all the paint off looks like a salty to me ? if so you may want to get two newer 2.5s ?
I may be slow but im ahead of you. *hit's only ankle deep but you went in head first.

Imo..I'd sell and start over, build them both the same. Nothing wrong with a 2.4, but the 2.5's are more desirable...A pair of PM 225's would be ideal for your rig.
Look up a man here on S&F, Tux974 and ask him about getting a pair of PM 225's. He's one of the most knowledgeable, and respected member here, buys and sells PM motors.
A real nice guy and will have the answers you need.James H. W2F a V-King... Want 2 Fly a V-King

A pair of those pm 225s would be just under 500 ponies stock, reliable and shows to be good on fuel consumption given it's sort of a hot rod motor.
