I don’t think I could ever utilize it to the potential it has. A 25k powerhead hanging off the back of my 36 year old boat would be a hoot tho!

See here is this thing Noah. In this day it seems it's much more easy to pull up negativity. Not one single person on this site has had anything to do with Matthew and groups project besides those in the project. It's catered to a very small segment of the market. Hopefully they can fill the void left in the boat racing market. Champ/F1/Drag and some of us river runners. Either you want one or you don't.

I’m sorry it comes across as negative, realistic is more what I was going for. They’ll sell some for sure, the UIM series maybe? The American Champ series has a hard enough time pulling teams, let alone teams that can afford this type stuff! They’ll do fine and these will make insane power. I’ve been a part of cnc projects for years now, I know what is involved from design to completion. I know what they cost and how much effort they take. These things aren’t easy, nor cheap, I know that trust me.

I do think we ALL would love one or two, the questions is can we afford them or would we spend that on it?
Will say, that type of technology and workmanship does cost lots of $$'s.

The price is what is expected for such a limited production REAL race motor .
Now just what boat racing classes will let it RUN.
Does anyone know?We have invented the world; WE see

It can already run in the class It falls into....odba unlimited
There is a reason it isn’t allowed in the lower classes. It would kill the class. No one will want to race a $50k billet motor with their 20 year old drag motor that’s been blown up four times.
This thing is cool for sure, but I don’t see anywhere for it to thrive. Outboard racing is just too small of a sport to justify that kind of quid

it really needs to be put in the hands of a few independents to run before it gets ruled out. I find it interesting that everyone (some) are scared of them in racing. It might needs its own weight, it might not until it’s tried we won’t know. It is a monumental effort to get it this far, kudos! But let’s see them run before any rash decisions are made.

I get what you’re saying Rob, but with what you’re saying, who would want a $30-50k powerhead, only to be slapped with a big weight penalty so that a 20 year old blown up drag motor can stay competitive with them. There’s really no easy solution. You can’t please all the people all the time.
Again, Kudos to them for an incredible project. The scope of it is truly massive, and it’s happening.

This thing certainly has an "unlimited" platform feel to it. How much more power is it going to make, or be capable of making compared to the highest end stuff that is already out there? To me that is the only pertinent question, if it can/will make 100 more than the baddest drag motor on earth, then yea there is no place for it because noone will race against it.
And I, like you am happy to see this product on the market and can't wait to see what folks do with it and where they end up being used.
