Mig a nut to the top. Just set it up there and fill up the center with weld. Should turn out easy once it cools down...

Show us where the studs were so securely bonded, fused. Could you knock them out with a punch?

Not sure how they can get punched out as they are srewed in.

I like the ideas of pipe wrench, grinding a flat spot for better grip with visegrips or pipe wrench, or welding the nut on.

Probably won't be able to try until the weekend.

The holes in the mid are not threaded. You should be able to drive them down and out.

I took the question to mean the stubs of the studs in the powerhead. I guess I’ve been misunderstanding quite a few things lately...

Oh yeah, the powerhead ones are what I was referring to, but now that you mention it I should clear those out too, eventually.

That was the root of the problem wasn't it?

Fmp was referring to studs that you cut that are still in midsection.

In my opinion they are threaded too much. They always corrode in the threads above the nut.

powerhead studs are fine thread at the bottom and coarse thread where they screw into powerhead. That is why they usually thread out of block pretty easy.

Glad you finally got it apart.
It's funny how the water wicks it's way up the threads over time and causes corrosion.

The studs did come out of the block pretty easy. A medium sized monkey wrench was the ticket. A smaller one would have done but I didn’t have one. Must be the threads as Bullet123 said. I was happy about finally getting something easy to do.

To get the remaining pieces out of the mid-section a punch worked for all by the two more forward long ones. They seem welded in.
