Finally getting back to some progress on this. Got the newer style mid-section with the rubber hose for the exhaust relief all set. Torqued down the new solid mounts. Ready to put the top (exhaust) plate on. Two questions:

    1) Besides the gasket is the any sealant or anything else to apply under that (between the two plates)?
    2) Any torque specs on the 5 bolts that hold it down? I couldn't find any.

Gasket goes on dry but solid mount have tendacy to leak around mount , I used little sealer around mounts to stop a leak but that's it

On bolts just use German torque spec. Gud n tite

Is there a cheaper alternative to Perfect Seal? Looks like about $20-$25 for a bottle.

Excellent catch. Thank you. Rod is in, but will add linkage (and gasket).

Are you referring to just the shift rod or do I need to add some more linkage at this point. Rod is in so I think that is enough ?

Glad I found this thread. I also have a 1994 2.0 that I am selling. One blown cylinder. But I'll be following along and if mine doesn't sell, I guess I have a new project...

I have forgotten the shift rod once before. Wasn't the best feeling.
