It's digital, adaptable to mechanical controls. The actuator is internal, should last a long time. 90% of sales will be for digital.

Yes I change my own oil and no I don't buy mercury 2 stroke oil. I'll continue to be happy adding to my optimax. Will you be changing your own oil on your new 4 stroke every 100hrs or will u take it too the dealer. @$17.500 for motor plus $2500 for rigging I'll pass. Lol that's $17.500 for a 175hp, $19.000 for 200hp, $20,500for 225hp and it's 475lbs dry weight I'm sure it will be close to 500lbs like a two stroke when u add oil. So again is it worth it not too me

List price on the 175 Pro XS is $15,110. Compare apples to apples. Yes, the new motor is probably more expensive but the official price hasn’t been published by Mercury and we have no idea what the dealer price or street price will be.

If/when I buy one I'll change the oil in both the gear case and the power head. The dry weight to dry weight is the fair way to compare weight. How much 2 stroke oil do you have onboard with you? I like to keep the large tank at least half full and if it's not, I'm usually hauling a jug to top it up. As it's been pointed out, you need to compare list price on both motors or wholesale on both to have a true price difference. They will certainly be a lot closer in price then some of the numbers we are seeing here.

Yeah, the sterndrives were different.... lose power and you were stuck in reverse.............

I have a waterman with 12,000 hours on his mercury 150. Has had a couple sensors and a tach go bad that's it.

any of the new 4 strokes from all the manufacturers will go thousands of hours if maintained properly.

Just ordered a new 150 ProXS four stroke , got a sweet-heart deal from a local dealer. Only problem is I cant get it until May! Replacing my 150 60 degree Johnson on my 1820 Actioncraft flats boat. Sure will miss the sound, smell and the punch, but am hoping for much more range.

In the pics on the other thread it shows what looks like the electric shift actuator in the mid section spacer...below the water line , is elect shift only avail in 25in motors ? doesnt appear to be enough room without the spacer in there..

I think you'll like it, bullet proof engine. The large displacement makes up for the torque and the ProXS is dynod at 163 HP.
