1989 Mercury 2.4 Bridgeport blown up!! Options ?
hello all i have a 1989 mercury bridgeport EFI on a 20ft tunnel that i recently blew up. My question is can i put drop on 225 promax or say 260 on this mid or would i have to change a lot of things. Just putting my feelers out there to see what my options are. thanks in advance.

Swap away. After a 2.5 you’ll never look back to a 2.4

If you go with the Pro Max get the 2 piece exhaust adapter with it to ensure no cooling issues.

If everyone is throwing their 2.4's away, I will be more than happy to take them.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

Your 2.4 Exhaust plate has smaller ports than either the 260 or ProMax... As Dave said, go to the two piece if you go ProMax... make sure its got the large ports vs small (both are out there) that's(ProMax)a steel sleeve engine so better running two piece plate for temp control reasons... if you go, 260/280/drag, you either need to open up your existing one piece exhaust plate to the match larger ports... or swap to a 260/280/Drag exhaust plate...

you can go 6 steel sleeves in the bport and still have the case/horn injection and spin higher than pmax, be a tad smaller on low end torque, but pass it on top end. We all got sick of re nicasilling 2.4's, just do like merc did with 225 pm. Steel sleeve it, good porting is there and you already have most of the parts you need
