    Remember, when the steering suppliers say increased effort they are talking about a manual pump, not something power assisted. But based on the responses here it sounds more like engineering theory than fact in practice as no one has said they felt increased steering effort with elbows in the lines.

    I’m going to do the neat install and use the fittings as you see above with the elbows on both sides of the bulkhead fitting so the hoses are tucked up out of sight. Thanks everyone.

    way back in the 80's I did lots of hydraulic steering mainly on offshore (twin engined) fishing boasts and ski boats, slow speed lots of wheel work.
    Always ran 1/2" hose ( and stainless tube where possible) and bored out lots of fittings, the guys liked to spin the wheels with one finger in the spokes, easily do-able like that but with factory 3/8 and 90 fittings, not going to happen.
    These installations were all about flow like a fuel system.
