I'm hopeful, .185+/- thick will help with the extra stuffing after removing case material to help flow. Had to ask a couple times, 0.18.....

What's it on? I had to clearance the block on a 2.6 Yamaha 200 last year. Wasn't cool because the rotating assembly was done.

I had to cut the cage bosses slightly on a 2cyl omc install, also put the stuffers and cages on the intake with the reed block screws slightly loose let the cages and spacers center themselves in the front half and then you can tighten the Reed block screws... Worked for me anyway. The Reeds and stuffers made a noticeable increase in mid range pull on my little 45ci rude.

So the ONE guy, making these, produces parts that need a bit of finess fit……., I’m OK W/that.

Yrs back, I had a set for a V-6 OMC looper and they were from whoever produced them for the OMC racing division and they wouldn’t even go into the case without work!

Kinda like me bitching to Wayne Taylor about the quality of his hot rod OMC pt’s and then realizing, No one else even made them!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Agree.. were putting the parts on motors that were made over a course of 40years im sure the tolerances/changes are numerous on the blocks and cages, omc has 4 or 5 different 4 petal cages that will all bolt up but have differences and numerus block part numbers for the same engines so there's no way you can make a one size fits all with a perfect fit. There is the question one gasket or two ?

Gary,Thanks for your support. We are making stuffers for lots of motors, and over the years small changes come along in some motor types that may cause a need for minor fitment work. For example, while the 4,5 and 6 petal stuffers always are a drop in fit, sometimes the 7 petal cages will need a little trimmed from the back side of the mounting bosses should they bottom out in their respective pockets in the crankcase front,to facilitate a flush fit.
Vertical reed yamaha 4 and 6 cylinder motors may need the stuffers trimmed a bit to fit properly, but this is easily done as the stuffers are fiberglass, and cut/sand easily...and cutting in the crankcase front is not necessary.
If anyone is having trouble, they are urged to call me,and we will resolve whatever issue there might be.
    We have expanded the offerings quite a bit,covering all the v4 and 6 yamahas,OMC loopers,fichts,Etecs,40-60 twins,and 49-56 triples,Merc 2.0,2.4,2.5,3.0,3.2 liter v 6's,carb,efi,and opti's.
Overall, the stuffer program has been very well liked, with only 1(one)set returned out of hundreds...buyer said the 5 petal merc stuffer wouldn't fit because it wasn't cut evenly, and returned them before I could tell him the cut was deliberate...look at the crankcase front.
Some motors and setups benefit more than others, and some like the etec and hpdi direct injected motors idle and accellerate so much better we always get comments from customers that use them.
Anyway, they are a drop-in fit on most motors, and if needed fitment can be made without grinding in the crankcase...
The beauty in these little parts is the fact that they achieve the same or usually better crankcase compression gain than milling the crankcase front, and do so without changing the external dimensions of the motor...leaving all throttle, tps, etc linkages without needing changes,Chris

so I'm just a country bumpkin and don't think I understand what these things do. They go inside the reed plate, under the reed cage, to space the reed cage back, towards the crankcase?

Exactly, and fill in the area around the foot of the reed cage as well in most instances,Chris

The less volume you have in the crankcase results are the engine will go into a vacuum sooner and longer and also on the blow side of pushing more air/fuel into the cylinders. Very clever solution to doing this without machining and epoxy/welding!

I had a fella ask me about reeds the other day. I told him (many others) that I only use Carson reeds.
Seems no matter if it's your cell phone or the Mrs. washing machine, in this day and age you either have to listen to elevator music for a half hour or speak to someone that doesn't speak English.
I have yet to not be able to speak to Chris directly when I have called. Or if busy, to not call me back before the sun sets. A wealth of knowledge + service ..
