Just ordered more resin from Ft Pierce Fla and they always laugh at how much catalyst I order.

I build sheds over everything and stick a Walmart space heater in it to cure the glass.
Used a drop cloth for a tent on the back of the boat to cure the knees w/the same heater.
Anf the patch for where stupid scoop was.

Well at least that one looks like you can use it the way it is. Not needing a full rebuild.

I think there's a difference in years and in 25-28.. and I could be wrong!
My '84 25' weighs just over 3007# with everything, batteries (Just 2, have 3 when camping)etc.
except only about 30 gals of fuel
I did pull out the heavy front seats swapped in lighter ones and all the cabin interior I didn't want(all cushion and bed are there just took out the seat backs and a opened a bulkhead a foam to gett more storage) i think that was 400-500 then i added jackplates and some small stuff.
Weighted it after I changed everything but don't think i took out that much again I could be wrong when I started I didn't weight everything coming or back in. So I don't know what it was to start.
I know looking at the nada book which I dont know if it even close it shows a big difference in years and weight

You also have cabinets etc in your cabin I can't remember all the extra stuff in the 28s cabin
Do you have any pics of the interior?

That's why I was really curious what his weighted before he started and after.

    Hull = 3000 lbs
    Dry Weight of each motor = 477 lbs (477 X 2 = 954lbs)
    96 gallon fuel = 614.4 lbs (96 X 6.4lbs = 614.4 lbs)
    batteries = 100 lbs (2 X 50 lbs = 100 lbs)
    cabin/cockpit weight guestimate = 300 lbs
    rigging/steering = 100 lbs

Total with fuel = 5068.4 lbs estimate

Gary's boat should be very close. I can't imagine there is a big variance between the 25' and 28' Checkmates..

I hope that answers your question! lol

    Score motor #2.

The guy on the 250 spent 3 wks telling me he was doing the inspection the next day so once again, I punted.

The wife had to be in Fla on biz so I followed
We flew down and rented a car and found that Alamo rents trucks

Drove to Cape Coral last night and after a successful compression test, bought this 400 hr, ‘2000 200hp JohnRude. A carb change (home in a box) and I now have a matching twin to the first motor.

Also found a bike that was too clean to pass up

I see my thread has been relocated so let’s see if it now dies from neglect.

Don’t forget ur gonna need to widdle on that exhaust port to make them match. Those late 3.0 blocks have a smaller chest might help bottom end on the heavy boat but they did make less power than the earlier ones. Also i saw one with flanged sleeves but I think that was a ficht.

    Come out any time.

    Kevin, schedule sucked this trip.

Got in Tues eve, took the Mrs to Immokalee from Vero Weds morn, then to the Cape for the 2nd motor then back to Vero 9 Weds night.
    400 mls

Thursday morning to Plant City and back.
    250 mls

    Today, sunshine and beer.
    Home tomorrow.

I did want to go see what KeysDave is whittling on but I’m about done driving for this trip.

I pulled the plug on the 250 after waiting 3 wks for a compression test.
So now, both motors are identical ‘2000 3.0’s.
Ill probably screw on 2.7 heads, paint em and nothing else.

Then probably build FrankenRude IV and a brother

@Instigator Gary, I really enjoyed this thread. I've said it often but I'll say it again - build-up and restoration threads are always my favorite. That's really what this site was started for, and it's still the very best content here. Thank you for posting it Gary, and the Checkmate look fantastic! Now, when do I get to photograph it?

I love the GS700 as well, nice score on that one!
