Barn Find (kinda) Pantera 28
Its a 1988 28 Pantera race boat with 98 300pm. The barn find kinda as it was put away, I believe in the spring of 04 or maybe 05 with a motor that quit running. I have know of its location, and issues since that time, but never really needed another boat till now. Its' the first boat I have bought in the last few years that wasn't 10 hours away. That was kinda nice.
I know some of the history on the boat. It somehow it made its way to LOTO in around 02, but before that it was in the New Jersey area. I have no idea on the race history? It was originally built for Dolphin Office supply?

Thanks
I got the broken motor running. New wire harness, and fuel system rebuild so far. Had the injectors flowed at Hydrotec, and they were all stuck closed. The fuel systems was a mess. Have not had a chance to check hours but guessing around 200ish. Comp all around 130-135 psi.
Going to need new floor and hatches rebuilt. Progress has slowed due to a utv incident.

Way cool project.
28' O/B Panteras are very rare.
I recently stumbled on pix's I took approx 15 yrs ago while visiting their shop.
They were just finishing going through one w/twin OMC's going to the Bahamas.
Pepe told me a week earlier I could have bought it.
Ugh!
Please keep us posted on your project.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Hey Mark, what's with you buying the Mercury Racing Boats? LOL. I believe this came from Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay? Very Cool, needs 1 more motor though! What happened to the Velocity that you were working on?

I am not sure why they all say Mercury Racing? Are there any Mercury Racing Doug Wrights, or Skaters out there? If so I will put them on the list.
We will see how it runs out with 2. Was told 80mph, and its propped for 80mph, so 85mph after some work maybe.
The Velocity was slow turning into a race boat, and someone feared that we may go boat racing again, and threw a lot of road blocks along the way. I parted it out and broke even, and bought a big a$$ fast boring Cruiser.
This one will stay race capable, but no plans to racing unless something like a Bimini style race pops up

It finally works. Ran about 30 miles 2 weeks ago, and no major issues. Best of 73 mph at 5100ish, but it been a while since I was in a straight bottom boat. Going to have to lay on the trim button some more this weekend.

Nice wave crusher I rode in a 24 single outboard and it ran 55+ but never felt a wave for a good 10 mile run down in the keys. That was the best ride I had in a long time. Very cool good luck.
