You'll probly need something a lil taller. And yes a cleaver will work better. These boats don't need a bow lifting prop. I'm shopping for a 27 cleaver.

Off topic, is there any chance you still have pics of the transom job on your Carlson Contender?????

No, I wish I had kept them. Unfortunately the previous owner of that boat had cut the transom out from the outside. That was a strange rebuild.
OK, I got down off the porch and ran with the big dogs....kinda sore now....think I'll just lay here in the flowerbed for a while...

How do you feel about a seacast transom repair, don't believe it would be easy to get at the transom the correct way, hell, I'm only 100 miles from Indy...... And thanks for the picture, she looks sweet. I have the same throttle mount on mine, but the steering wheel hole is on the other side, thanks again.

Seacast is a shortcut. They are not well thought of in performance boat circles. That said, I have no personal knowledge of failure and one occasion of a Glastron GT160 running an Etec150 with a Seacast transom that has been going strong for several years. It was meticulously installed by a lifelong boat mechanic friend of mine. If you make sure you get the rot out, and are not just glueing rotten wood together I would say go for it. I wouldn't expect it to be used in any high stress applications like high speed rough water racing. I imagine it to be heavy compared to a cored transom, but those things are pretty light in general. If you are building a pleasure craft I would say go for it. If you don't already know the condition of the rest of the wood in the boat, check it carefully. If I had been smart, I would have set mine up right side steer, or center steer.
