Thats too bad. Yeah, I seen the pics of it when it had the big goofy knees on it and goofy seat and nasty paint. Thats a shame after seeing the work you put in to it. I dont plan to sell the Vulture ever or in anytime in the foreseeable future but that why I would have a hard time selling something I put so much work and time into. My luck some dummy would buy it or end up with it and it would cross my path later in life and make me really sad if it was neglected or half ass rigged together with no cares given. lol

In the process of leveling and squaring the boat and adding 4 more bunks under it to support it for wood replacement. The previous owner bought it from a guy who apparently painted and rigged it without checking for rot. When he found out the transom flexed, he sold the boat. I am pretty sure it will all be rotten. I had asked a question about whether Allison filled the shoebox joint on these boats on the Allison Owners site but I think I got the answer laying under the boat installing the new bunks. The nice new paint appears to be automotive base/clear with gray primer under it. I'm gonna stick my neck out before I grind on this filler and bet that it turns out to be pink Bondo. Looks like I don't get to save this paint work after all...

Got the splashwell removed and enough floor out to check core near the transom, tapping sounds solid. I'll drill to be certain but don't have anything to fill with and working outdoors I will wait until I can seal it back up. Transom, floor and three out of five stringers are toast, no worse than expected. If I could just get the weather to cooperate....

Yes the weather has not been nice. It's either to cold to work, or raining.

You do have a great head start. Spring "will" get here.....

Got the transom out. Someone apparently drilled the top of the rotten transom and poured resin down in it. Didn't help stiffen the transom much but it sure glued the rot to the outside skin. Toughest transom removal I've ever done.

That made a not so fun job into a miserable one....I have often wondered just how good or NOT the stuff some use to do just that. Hollow it out best one can then pour a liquid in that will cure and be as good as a laminate transom? Not on anything I own....

James, There is a big difference between using a reinforced liquid transom material and what happened here. You can see the brown/amber colored area still stuck to the outside skin in the pic. Pure un-reinforced resin. On a non-performance hull, a reinforced pourable like Seacast has been used with a lot of success. Wouldn't trust it in a performance boat though.

Ok, being CDO ( if you are ocd real bad, you have to have the letters in alphabetical order) do you plan on putting red stripes on the wrap cowling or blue highlights on a white hull??? Maybe a little early, but something to think about.

1954 BMW, I have thought of it, but I have my Trailblazer parked in front of where the boat is and I have a donor blue stripe motor on a stand behind the boat. When I look in the rearview mirror, I can see them both and it looks kinda cool. On the other hand, I want to save the red, but may not be able to. (I may actually be trying to save the stupid graphics...) If I have to paint the color. I may match the blue. The first Ally I saw was white and blue with a blue stripe Twister and that's the boat that got me hooked to begin with.

Cutting out a new transom. Picked up one of these at Harbor freight. Where the hell has this thing been all my life? If you are working on a fiberglass boat and do not have one of these, go get one NOW.
    You're welcome.

Pretty much the same thing but this is the one I used. About 40 sanding disks later, Chet found this thing at our local supplier and it finished my entire boat and in about half the time, and he has done a boat or three with it since. Well worth the money. The one I used, had to be careful though cause it could get away from you and before you know it, you have went a bit too far. lol

Been colder than blue whiz until this week, now raining enough to scare Noah. Did I mention I love working outdoors?
