Interesting 2.5 Flywheel design for Alex Carella (Abu Dhabi F1 team)

Spotted an interesting looking flywheel atop the now 4-time world champs powerhead. Does anyone have any info on these?

    Only curious

i saw those at van eckelijen in belgium
they have very weak magnets to keep parasitic drag as low as possible while just producing a spark and very little charging
they run a different philosophy how much can we shave off everything and still get to the finish line
if you install that on your lake racer go somewhere, throw out your anchor and turn on the radio
    you will be peddling back!

No flex plate? Seems like it would be kind of hard on the crank.

Don't look like it weighs enough to make any difference.
To fish or not to fish? What a STUPID question.

Ah, how thick is the aluminum and vs how thick a flex plate? And weigh both? The alloy will not flex compared to the factory light wheel. I guess Merc was wrong and should have made them like the super deep pocketed Arabs who can afford to change cranks... powerheads every race.

Flex plates break. One particularly graphic experience I saw first hand.

Was it stock or cut? Everything breaks. Even the ends off crankshafts. They aren't pretty either.

That's what blocks look like after the re-nic'ing process. The acid dip strips the alodine and leaves the light gray

Block looks nice. I also like how the whole thing looks like a basic motor, nothing high tech dangling off of it. Must have some incredible porting and crank work going on inside of that tiny little beast.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.
