Overheat Alarm Test
Is there a quick and easy way to test the overheat alarm on a Merc? I just want to be sure it's working.
Can I unplug the beige wire with the blue stripe at the butt connector, ground it and see if I get a beep? Or will that screw something up? Or is there a better way? Don't want to fry anything as the engine runs perfect.
Assuming the key must be on and the lanyard connected...

yes that is correct, with key switch on, simply touch tan w/ blue stripe wire to ground. that should sound warning horn.
