    Expert advice neededand components,

New to your forum and in bad need of some advice.
Have 1996 ProMax 225 ,OG367957, it was a performer until I had the water pump impeller replaced and they installed with the incorrect placement of the two gaskets I.E. top gasket placed under the impeller plate and vise verse.
I launched for a test run and immediately hit the temperature warning alarm, back on the trailer dropped the lower housing and discovered their gasket error.
Replaced with proper gasket relaunched but the excessive engine temperature was still there across the complete rpm range.
Put the motor in the hands of a certified Merc mechanic who replaced the entire water pump, stats, poppet assembly, flushed the block, compression test, reset throttle sensor, and gave thumbs.
    launched again with no improvement,runs @ 180 to 200 with stats @ 150 lake water 70
what possible damage was done to the power head components as a result from the first over heating event?
    In advance
    Dundee

Scuffed cylinders, creating drag and heat, pull the headed and look before major damage happens if not already done. Good luck

Check it with a temp gun before you get all excited.

Thanks for your reply. I'll give that a try is there any thing that could cause the exhaust diverted plate to fail or crack or is it pretty temperature safe?

Papa pete would I see a compression difference from a scuffed cylinder?

I'd think if ya had enough cylinder damage to be giving you a temp problem you'd definitely see it on compression. Your pressures sound good. I'm with captain and I would check head temp next to verify you don't just have a sending unit out of wack. Check both heads.

Your original impeller didn't come apart did it? If so, possible a piece lodged somewhere restricting flow to head sender is on?

Impeller was ok however there were small pieces from the gasket found stuck in the poppet but no other gasket particles were found. I'll get a gun and check the block at several locations for any clues.
    thanks for time.

Might also be a piece of gasket at the top of water tube were it goes to exhaust plate. Which direction did tech flush block? I would pull the lower and back flush and see if anything comes out.

Should show on compression check, but sometime No! Had one scuffed and dragging so bad it wouldn't hardly idle that cylinder had 150 and the rest 140 so use a boroscope or pull heads

    Bask flush direction

Not sure of the flush direction but I did flush myself from the bottom up with the stats removed.
Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking the heat gun will verify the temp gauge to the actual block temperature is a process of elimination.
