There haven't been many for sale lately but if I see one, I will let you know. Another similar hull to consider is a 22 Talon. I have personally considered all 3 but I stuck with the Cougar. The Cougar offered a large cockpit with a flat floor, tons of storage under the bow with easy access, and a large rear sun pad with more storage. My second choice would have been the Talon but there was little access to the bow and the center console made it harder to move around the cockpit. I liked the look of the newer Daytonas with the quarter canopies but they are a lot heavier boats plus they are wider and they would not fit on my boat lift.

All 3 are great boats but the Cougar 22MTR was personal choice. I could be a little bias because this is my 3rd one though. I will let you know if I see any of them posted for sale.

    Good luck in your search

Thanks for the info, i have never owned either but have seen the Talon in person and agree it's a little too tight a cockpit for me.

Another possibility would be a DCB Mach 22. They are rigged very well and a lot of them were twins. The only thing that I didn't like about them is they didn't have a flat floor.

    Thanks

I have looked at those as well as the Liberators, i don't like the floor either. The Liberators are pretty fast and Randy (wildman) is like an hour from me.

Let's See Your Cougars-Boats That Is!!!

Here is another 2004 Cougar 22MTR that has been totally customized and powered by a Yamaha 450s. It belongs to Rob Smith in Saskatoon, Sk. He put a lot of work into it. I had a great chat with him yesterday and hopefully he will chime and give you more details on it. Enjoy!!
    Thanks

He didn't give me any speed numbers but he did say that it was real easy on fuel compared to the 300X that was on the boat when he bought it. Hopefully he will post more info on it.
    Thanks

    Beautiful Boat! Very nicely done...

I especially like the way he did the dash to accommodate that large screen...not to mention the interior, etc.

Well, I bought the Cougar 22MTR. Coming from a V-hull my whole life, it's interesting...

Can anyone chime regarding the O/D? Imco lower, with Imco upper?

    Hey Mitch
Congratulations and welcome to the Cougar Club!! I'm sorry that I can't help out with the O/D but I am sure someone chime in. Post up some interior photos and performance numbers once you get used to it.
    Thanks

Looks like a US built boat, IMCO drive is much stronger than a Bravo.

Thanks folks, added more pics to my post.

Regarding trim, when up to speed (40+), and with the tabs fully retracted, it's very sensitive to trim. Responds well to positive trim.

Only done 70 MPH so far, still getting used to it! Fun Boat!

    Thanks folks!
