ID:	478997About a month ago I purchased this Johnson GT115 on one of our old 16' Hustlers. It was purchased brand new locally in 1968. The owner used it on and off until 1988 when it was parked for good. The gentleman that bought it passed away a few months ago and his wife wanted the boat out of the yard where it had been sitting since 1988. After many hours of cleaning mouse crap/pee out of the motor pan and repair chewed wiring, resealing the racing g/case and replacing the w/pump the motor started right up and ran exceptionally well. I am now in the process of finding the original paint color which I have come to find out was called Tropic Green ( thanks Bill R ). I hope to paint the powerhead and the exterior and eventually put it on a Hustler tunnel boat I started restoring a couple of years ago.

If you get a chance, post some pics of the carb setup and other interesting details.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

If you look closely Dave I have it laying on a piece of carpet and I thought you might like the thrust block and rear exhaust plate

Instead of hijacking this thread where would it be appropriate to start a thread on restoring this motor? Any thoughts?

New someone who had one on his personal runabout. Being in the business he could have replaced it with any new Evinrude 135-140 v4 in the 70s. I don't think he ever did, said it was the best.
A new boat and motor yes, but never repowered the original.
