S3000/Drag piston difference
I was told by a very reputable f1/champ racer that there is a difference in the pistons in the two motors because of rotation said they will run either one but significant power loss when running pistons wrong direction anybody ever herd this or can look up the part numbers ?

I thought it sounded a little extreme but he should know he also said the first wizards they ran we’re way Down on power because they were made to turn right hand dean had to remake the left hand ones

I was told/taught by some person how to measure wrist pin location for a lefty so they would run "better". It makes sense in theory but not like I have the financial means to pick through 300 pistons and cherry pick. Then there is rod offsets and a bunch of other gobbildygook...

Yeah there are other minor details too. Will it matter much to us bonehead weekenders? No. To those who have a dumpster full of money on the f1 circuit and a dyno to stand over? Yes. I took in a motor on a trade built by Werner overseas, neat stuff in there.
Kind of like why you turn the pistons upside down to build a opposite rotation v8....

plenty of people have swapped sst120 to RH for non ssm applications, never heard of an issue?
maybe you should do righthand laps if your powerhead goes right and ssm to the left?
200xs ssm is ambidextrous, swings both ways at the same timeLast edited by powerabout; 11-27-2017 at 11:30 PM.
