    Cool The Legendary Viper!

I know that most of us that go boating on the Great South Bay in NY (and many that don't) know Ronnie's Viper. Always one of my favorites. One of the very few I would ever ride in at over 100 mph, due to Ronnie's setup and driving. I really miss this one.

Here was a day in the summer of 2000, when Ronnie visited Inlet Marine in Copiague. 17 years ago... Where does the time go?

I remember when he brought that boat to Rumble on the River.

Ronnie was testing and there was a large crowd of spectators on the river bank.
The river was snotty and Ronnie was driving at 95%, but in a 15' boat, in front of a crowd that had never seen anything like that.

The water patrol officer, on site, who knew me an Ronnie, and knew what Ronnie could do, asked me to ask Ronnie to slow down.
Was hilarious, and will never forget Ronnies look when I told him that.

I can't imagine anyone driving a 15' vee bottom better than Ronnie did.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

That is a real example of how to set up a stream. Don't need a 12' tall rooster and a bullet above the bottom. Just pure HP, good prop and a real driver getting it done. Guys are still trying to go that fast today.

Hard to believe that was 17 years ago and one of the reasons I got so addicted to this site.

Yes your correct Gater. That's the reason me and T-Rex took my 2.5 project motor off the 16 Laser. It weighed 260lbs and we had it strolling. Sooner or later one of us was gonna dump it. We both ole and don`t heel up real fast these days. But man what a ride it was!

I had just not heard anything about Ronnie`s boat till now.

That root beer metalflake sure looks good on it. Sad loss, if that boat is gone.
