...know nothing about this kind of stuff, as i have lived in florida most of my life, but... is oil for a furnace still cheap or has it gone up over time, for heating that is...? what does it cost these days & what kind of oil is it exactly? is it in an oil tank out in the yard or always in a basement or what? how many gallons a month are needed? thx.

Any oil tank for a furnace that I have seen was always in the basement. Pipe fed to the outside for easy deliveries. I think if they were outside in the cold of the winter, one might see issues with fuel gelling up.
As far as the type of oil they use, I had a buddy years back that was down on his luck. He had no heat and told me I could buy off road diesel for it. So I did. He dumped it into the pipe outside and started the furnace. Not sure if this is what they would bring you if you have it delivered, but I have seen it used.
No idea how much one would expect to use. Too many variables. The place I live in now I gutted and insulated it properly. In the winter I can walk around in shorts and a t-shirt and be comfortable at 68 degrees. No drafts or cold spots help a lot. My gas bill last month was $7.

Nothing is cheap to heat with anymore unless you can cut your own wood from your property but then there's extra insur. costs.Natural Gas(line is about an 1/8 mile from here)used to be dirt cheap but it's really jumped in price also.Other than wood you get the best heat from oil.
If I knew it was going to last this long I would have taken better care of it.

Yeah, two parter. One Low further east the trailer over the Ohio River Valley. If we're lucky enough it'll slide north and then we'll be doomed too. Our local news radio loves the drama music with the weather brief.

Just like the hurricane watches when we lived in Fla.
Limbaugh (who lives in Palm Beach) made a great point about the box stores and gas stations that get rich every time and who’s pulling who’s strings?I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

Kind of funny, but the local news here (northern WI) was making a big deal of how much snow you guys got. Comical, honestly. What, you got a few feet of snow in a few places that are otherwise used to it?
The media is a flipping joke. What they report on and how they report on it are a joke. The real joke are the people that fall for their pitch. And the number of people that fall for it increases by the day..............................
