1998 Yamaha VMAX 200 making horrible noise early in trim up

Anyone know why my outboard trim would make a ugly scraping noise early on while trimming up? Air in the hydraulic chamber? I posted 2 videos so you can here exactly what it sounds like. Thanks in advance.

Yeah it sounds like some air and possibly a little water got in there too. Which means you probably got a bad seal. Like FMP says...fluid change and purge will short term fix it. You could address the seal to keep that from happening again in the future...or just keep doing a fluid change and purge when it happens again until the frequency of that starts to get on your nerves.

Try lubricating the tips of the trim rams and the socket they run against, use a heavy lube. Good luck
