Looks cool Ken . Make sure the core back by the transom is dry. Mine seemed solid until I found the 1/4 of fiberglass on top of it, once that was removed the core they used was plywood and soaked

Awesome job on the 1400's and Missile, can't wait for a side by side run on the river next summer. This fall weather has been great for projects. Yesterday, ran the Hondo with the 2 blade 21 and Sunday will get the STV out for a ride. Have a good day with the top primer.

xskid1, I would strongly suggest rethinking about putting Twin 140s on the Magnum Missile. The Magnum Missile is a fabulous boat, but it has its limitations, as the boat is only 16 feet 6 inches long and is not a pickle fork. Twin Merc 140s is a lot of weight to put on the transom making it very highly susceptible to blowing over backwards at the extreme speed. I would suggest trying it out first with a single Merc 140.

Of course it should go without saying, but please be sure you have power trim activated from push buttons on the steering wheel. You will definitely need it.

Good luck with the project, but please don't kill yourself.

    Hope that this helps.

I have the rest of the parts for the trippps.......and a 2by 10 inch plank of salt treated wood with no holes drilled ...yet...Mr Z expresses good thoughts...... but old racers did run lots of motors on small boats. Looks like a neat project.

Back in the 70's, a couple of my buds won the local offshore race against all the (at the time) biggest and best racers in a Magnum Missile with a 150XS. They got lucky and it was flat glass water conditions and they ran away from the big boats. I rigged and set up the boat for them and it would run an honest 70 mph with gas and 2 people in it. Very capable little boats. Yours is looking great, keep at it..

Nice job. Just watch yourself. I never saw one of those boats rigged with twins that didn't blow over. I am pretty sure I saw most of them back in the day.
