Well to update the Merc Saga....
I found a standard rotation motor 17 hours away on Craigslist in Baton Rouge, LA.
I drove, I ran, I tested, and I purchased the black bearded motor. Threw it on the trailer and get go... Now have to do the swap on the cxl motor that blew. What a road trip....
Gumbo and Oyster Poboy was off the chain btw

Not exactly true, there was a very limited production European market 135 promax @ one point. I don’t know they exact years but I’ve seen a couple over the years.

In the states there was a few 2.5 135’s as fishing motors for a year or two don’t know exactly what years. One was used in the 135 speed record set in APBA about two years ago now?

No that’s not where I saw the 135 promax, and I thought Paul said his 135 2.5 was a fishing motor.

I’d have to search the thread on his record motor again or see if I have the texts still talking about it

When he set the 150 record I’m pretty sure it was with a 150 promax, I know he had been looking for one.

I think he set the 135 powerhead on the other mid/lower/cowl set -up??

been too long cant remeber exactly

So we now have a new season upon us. I took the powerhead off the Cajun short shaft and placed it on the 25 in shaft. It needed plugs, some enrichment tubing that was leaking, carbs adjusted, one switchbox and timed.

The reman powerhead was out of warranty by 5 months but was sent back and the vendor Blackbird rebuilt it again for no charge. I did pay 200.00 for shipping. So now I have a spare powerhead for when I blow one up this year.

These motors are highly undependable and suck gasoline at an alarming rate. I use them to get out 2 to 25 miles and then troll at idle for hours on end. Is the trolling at idle killing them? The oil injection system is removed from both. So at idle the trey receiving 50:1 which is ALOT of oil.

People are telling me to junk them. Put new Suzuki's on the boat. They sip gas. Thats 26K that I dont have so here we are. The bearded saga continues.

Right?? When a 2.0 especially and 2.4/5 carb fishing motors are done correctly in fishing environments they are just about indestructible

you knkw how many many of those motors are original and still being used on fishing boats in tournamnts every weekend they get their necks rung on a daily basis and keep coming back for more??? I see TONS of them lol.
