21' Scamper (Apache). Project or pointless?

There is lots of info and knowledge in this forum. I'm hoping for a little help here. I just picked up this boat as anew project. I was told it was a 1987 Apache 21'. It has Apache stickers on it in the pics I saw. So after going to pick it up, I find that the hull# and title say Scamper boats. My question is, since it's not a true apache, is it worth restoring to original? Is it worth anything really? And if not.... I might turn her into a bay boat. I don't want to ruin a piece of history though. Thank you for your input.

I don't have any knowledge of scamper to input , but I can say that looks like a cool project. If you like the hull go for it....most of us have built hulls solely because we liked it regardless of its resale worth..hell, I just did a soup to nuts resto on a 16' 1969 caravelle runabout , they weren't worth much new and certainly not a sought after hull by any means, but I liked enough to build it. I say go for itClick image for larger version.

If you don't mind a bit of work it looks like a neat boat. Like a blank canvas what you put on is what it will be. Looks like a 20 inch whit spacer and a bobs lower?

I like how someone engraved the HIN under the real HIN, just in case. Haha. But if you already have it are good with with fixing things, then do it. Not sure I'd turn it into a bay boat though.

This boat has potential. Since you already own it, why not fix it up

Would luv to see the deepV front though, if you can snap some pics from the front and side would luv to see the deepV

I think that the hull should ride phenomenal in chop and near shore conditions. I do love projects. More about the vision of what it could be, that drives me. Not sure if it's a "bobs" lower. Was told he took it to the west coast of Florida to have it done. It is a B bracket. Didn't measure the setback yet. I'll get more pics of the v for you to.

I more or less have the same dilemma. I bought a 1990 23' eliminator, which isn't a terribly desirable hull but dang it I wanted a 23-25' cat with a center pod, and sunk a bunch of money into it. No, it's not a coveted skater but it looks great, I get lots of compliments, and it runs and rides the way I like it. Now I'm repowering it and about to sink a bunch more money into it. I noticed that the HIN says ELBL or LBL or maybe just BL (bayliner???!)(part of it is covered by the bracket), which may not even be an eliminator. Hmmm.
