Anyone else spend to much time trying to make boats not meant to go fast go fast?

Workboat races are this Sunday. Spending the afternoon prop testing on our 19' Carolina skiff shop boat with a 115 2.1 4-stroke. The "daily" prop is a 21p enirtia. And the boat sees 49 loaded to work (couple hundred pounds of tool, two fat guys, 20 gallons of gas, what ever parts and all the random crap that stays in the boat) at the limiter.

Gonna go out tonight and try a 24p bravo, 21p laser, 24p trophy, 25p tempest 2, and a 24p cleaver.

Me too. Really wish i had a 23 to try though. I don't think it will pull the 25.

And I figure if nothing else the cleaver will make for a good picture. Lol

I hope you guys are gonna post a video from this run. The last boats that shouldn't go fast run I got to see was the pontoon races on lake of the ozarks...one actually hit a 100 with a rediculously worked 502

Well the 24p bravo 1 was the hot ticket in testing. 5600 rpm with the boat about 400lbs heavier then it will be tomorrow. So should gain some rpm and speed at the race tomorrow.

Tempest props are finicky. If they are not tuned right then can be turds. I have run several of the same pitch and the difference was surprising.

Yeah I feel like with some tuning I could dial it in.... but no time for that.

Took first in our class... got dead last in the king of the bay class (all outboard boats welcome) but I got a horrible start, kept up with everyone though. 1-2' bay chop, 51 mph. Not bad for a flat bottom 19' Carolina skiff with a box stock 115 merc and no setup time. Was defimatly a imterestimg ride.
